How can I reset my password?
If you become locked out of your FAS resource account or @college email account and cannot remember the password, there are several ways in which you can reset the password and regain access to your account.
Use our ID Management tool
The first and easiest option is to attempt to reset the password using the password self service feature of our Identity Management System(IDM). The IDM system is setup to control and manage the passwords for all of your email and resource accounts that are managed by FAS IT, resetting the password in IDM will reset the password across all FAS IT systems.
You will be asked to answer a set of security questions on your account that you should have setup when you created the account. If you have not set these questions up, please login to https://accounts.fas.harvard.edu/idm/user/login.jsp and click on the option to answer security questions.
To attempt a password reset via the self service feature of IDM, go to our IDM login page. Here you will be able to enter your username and click on the link that says Forgot your password? If you have password self service enabled on your account (meaning that you have already setup security questions) you will then be asked to answer these questions and then be able to reset the password.
If you receive an error that password self service has not been enabled on the account, you will need to reset your password in one of the following ways.
Visit our Support Desk
To reset the password on the account, simply visit our support desk, located in room B14 of the Science Center. Present a photo ID (Harvard ID, Passport, State ID, Etc.) at the desk and we will then be able to reset the password for you.
The support desk is open Monday-Friday, 9am - 8pm, Saturday 10am-6pm, and Sunday from 12pm-5pm.
Submit a Password Change Authorization form
If you are unable to visit the Support Desk, you can submit a Password Change Authorization form that we can process for your password reset.
Processing of this form requires that you also attach a copy of a photo ID to the form and fax it to the number specified at the top of the form. If you do not have access to a fax machine you can also scan the documents and send them as an attachment to an email to Help@fas.
If you have any further questions or need to check on the status of your password reset request, please feel free to call us at 617 495 9000, or email Help@fas.
