Harvard College Students:
The display name currently shown on your @college GMAIL account is actually determined by your 'Listing Name' in the FAS Directory. As a student you are able to edit the listing of your first name, for example if you prefer a shortend version (Matthew to Matt, Daniel to Dan). You can change this information by accessing the directory update tool directly at dirupdate.fas.harvard.edu or through My Harvard.
- Login to my.harvard.edu
- Click on the Campus Resources Tab
- Click on "FAS Directory Update: View/Edit Official Information" in the top right hand corner
FAS Faculty or Staff using FAS Exchange (IRIS):
The display name currently listed on your FAS Exchange Account (as seen in the Global Address Book) is determined by your 'Listing Name' in the FAS directory. Faculty and Staff have the ability to edit this listing name completely to reflect a preferred version over the officially listed name in your employee data. You can change this information by accessing the directory update tool directly at dirupdate.fas.harvard.edu or through My Harvard.

- Click on the Campus Resources Tab
- Click on "FAS Directory Update: View/Edit Official Information" in the top right hand corner
FAS Faculty/Staff, DCE Students using FAS UNIX (webmail.fas.harvard.edu):
The display name currently listed on your FAS account is set locally in your FAS Webmail options, available through webmail.fas.harvard.edu. The account will initially be setup with your official university information (First and Last Name), but can be updated using the process below:
- Log into webmail.fas.harvard.edu
- Click on the "Options" tab
- Choose the first option, Personal Information
- Click the link "Edit your identities"
- From the Drop Down box, please select Default Identity
- Please edit the field marked "Your Full Name"
- Click "Change" to save your changes
