ID and PIN

Any Harvard student needs to have their HUID and PIN to activate any an FAS account or to access to most online applications. Request your PIN online at www.pin.harvard.edu

FAS Email account

Once you have an ID and PIN you can activate your FAS email Account at: http://www.fas.harvard.edu/fasit/myaccount/. Click on the Activate my account link. NOTE: Please wait 5 business days after accepting Harvard's offer of admission before trying to activate your FAS Email account.

There are other utilities available on that page to setup Spam blocking, virus blocking, forwarding your mail, and vacation messages. You can use our webmail application at http://webmail.fas.harvard.edu/

Purchasing a computer

If you choose to purchase a new computer you may do so through the Computer Purchase and Repair Center (CPRC) to receive a discount through Harvard. Contact Information for the CPRC is at the bottom of this document.

Network Registration & Autoreg.fas

In order to use the Harvard network you need to register your computer's Ethernet Address

My.harvard.edu

http://my.harvard.edu/ is the FAS web portal. It has many features and is customizable. You need a Harvard University ID and PIN to login and personalize my.harvard.edu.

Lab Printing & PaperCut

PaperCut is the application that allows students, faculty and staff to use the public printers in the FAS IT labs. PaperCut requires you to sign in to your printing budget using you FAS Email username and password.

You can add money to your printing budget at https://papercut.fas.harvard.edu/user or you can debit Crimson Cash to your printing budget at the walk up counter in the main Science Center computer lab.

Computer Labs

All College and GSAS students, Extension/Summer students, and FAS faculty and staff have access to the Science Center's computing facilities. All Science Center labs are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

The main facility in the building is the Science Center Computer Lab (SCL), room B-14. This lab contains:

  • 40 Windows XP workstations
  • 25 Macintosh Intel Core Duo workstations running OS X Tiger
  • 32 Ubuntu Linux workstations
  • 5 seats for personal laptop use
  • One color and five black-and-white laser printers

Additional computer classrooms are located in these Science Center; these are open 24 hours a day, seven days and may be used for general computing use whenever classes are not in session.

Extension/Summer School affiliates have access to a DCE computer lab at 53A Church Street in Harvard Square. You must present a valid Extension/Summer School ID, or your course receipt/registration form, to access this facility.

Hollis

Hollis is the online library database. http://hollis.harvard.edu/. You need a Harvard University ID and PIN to access Hollis.

Computer Product and Repair Center (CPRC)

Harvard University offers many discounts on computers and peripherals.  The Computer Product and Repair Center can help you purchase a personal computer, software, or accessories.

The CPRC has a showroom in the Science Center basement, across from the elevators.
