Faculty and Staff Support: Security

FAS Information Technology Computer Security Group works to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of information assets and resources including data, data storage, and connectivity to the network. The Computer Security Group provides the following services to the FAS community:

  • Provides network vulnerability assessments including scanning of servers and desktops for suspicious network activity, open ports, patches, security updates and system configuration issues.
  • Recommendations & consultation for secure configuration of servers.
  • Recommendations & consultation for compliance with the university enterprise security policy .
  • General resource for questions about security involving viruses, firewall configurations, software recommendations, encryption, and privacy issues.

FAS IT technicians also coordinate with the Computer Security Group to ensure that desktop support calls also take into account up-to-date security settings.
